Red Flamenco Dress

INTRO TO FLAMENCO DANCE

TANGOS FLAMENCOS

Students will learn the basics of the baile flamenco, which include simple footwork, arm & handwork and marking patterns. Besides technique, choreography for tangos flamencos will also be taught.

Thursday, 7:20-8:20 pm, March 11-April 15, 2021

Fee: $60, 6 classes

Flamenco Dress

RUMBA FLAMENCA

Marking patterns and choreography for rumba flamenca will be taught in this fun, fast-moving class!

*Intro to flamenco dance required or consent of instructor.

Monday, 7:20-8:20 pm, March 8-April 12, 2021.

Fee: $60, 6 classes

TECHNIQUE AND MUSICALITY

This class will focus on technique, palmas and compás, with additional emphasis on exploring different flamenco palos (forms).

*Intro to flamenco dance required or consent of instructor.

Monday, 6:15-7:15 pm, March 8-April 12, 2021.

Fee: $60, 6 classes

Castanets

INTERMEDIATE CASTANETS

This class is geared towards the advanced beginning/intermediate castanet player. Students will study castanet technique, rhythms and exercises, plus focus on adding castanets to classical dance combinations. Students will also work on a solo castanet piece to classical music.

Sunday, 10:30-11:30am, March 21-April 18, 2021. No class April 4.

Fee: $40, 4 classes

FLAMENCO HAT/FAN TECHNIQUE

TANGOS DE MÁLAGA

In this class, students will become acquainted with the Sombrero Cordobés, or Spanish hat.  Students will learn exercises and combinations to strengthen technique and coordination, plus work on a choreography for Tangos de Málaga which will incorporate both Spanish hat and fan.
*Intro to flamenco dance required. Tania has hats and fans for sale, or students can purchase online.

Fee: $60, 6 classes

NEW! WEDNESDAY WORKSHOPS

Sign up for as many classes as you would like; each one is independent.

Structured Improv: This class is open to all levels. Parameters will be set in which the student will be asked to improvise, possibly including rhythm, staccato vs legato movements, palmas, props and arm and footwork. This is the class for students who want to let loose and just move their body!

Wednesday, 7:00-8:00 pm, March 17 & 24.

Mantón (Spanish shawl) Technique: Learn how to manipulate the beautiful Spanish shawl in this basic technique class.

Wednesday, 7:00-8:00 pm, March 31 & April 7.

*Intro to flamenco dance required or consent of instructor.

Students must provide their own shawl.

Fee: $10 per class.
